Mona Pearl Treyball, PhD, RN, CNS, CCRN-K, FAAN, Colonel (Retired), United States Air Force Nurse Corps, Professor & Specialty Director of Veteran and Military Health Care Academic Programs, University of Colorado College of Nursing,  developed the first Master and Doctoral degrees to address the needs of veterans and servicemembers. With 22 years of military experience, over 38 years in nursing, and over 25 years in academia, she has received numerous accolades and authored 40+ publications. In her military career she deployed multiple times and has served in positions from the battlefield to Command to the Pentagon. Military decorations include Legion of Merit, Meritorious Service Medals, Commendation Medals, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medals, Global War on Terrorism Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, and NATO Medal. She was the recipient of the 2019 Colorado Nightingale Award for her contributions to the education of nurses in caring for our nation’s Veterans.
